Doreen Abegg

Doreen Abegg's artist statement: My collection of recent work is a series of colorful impressionistic oil paintings of California landscapes. Many of these paintings were painted on location and directly from nature. The joy I experience in creating a painting comes from the wealth of subject matter I have been exposed to growing up in Southern California. Dazzling sunlight, often tempered by ocean mist, illuminates our landscapes with colors like no other place in the world. It's very exciting for me to capture and express these colors and moods on canvas.

Kathryn Abernathy Artwork

Autumn Breeze

Kathryn Abernathy

While searching for a way to regain my health after years of near-constant migraine pain, I discovered that the more time I spent with art, the fewer headaches I had. Realizing the positive changes that art was having on my life, I soon decided to become a full time working artist. That decision was the starting point to many synchronicities that occurred, all leading me to take Joseph Campbell's advice and 'follow my bliss' into the art world. With a degree in Mathematics and a career in computer programming, becoming an artist was not something I had ever considered. But as time goes by, I see that working abstractly, continually searching for the simplest form and finding truth are all fundamental elements in both Mathematics and Art. But Art will truly steal your heart.

Dorothy (d.hunter) Adams

'Paint something you love' is the principle that guides Dorothy's brush.

Fascinated in the ways light and shadow affect the nuances of the human face, and the glorious world around us, Dorothy's desire for sensitivity and perfection results in evocative, respectful and warm images. Working in watercolours, oils, acrylics, or pencil, she works primarily from photographic studies and nature. Her realistic style and gentle approach, coupled with an inspired ability to see and share joy, capture the character of the subject and the essence of a moment with palettes chosen from close artistic observation. Because she paints from the heart, each painting is a generous gift, sharing the tender subtleties and intuitive understanding of her subjects with the viewer.

Born and raised in southern Ontario, she was given her first set of Winsor Newton oil paints at the age of seven and has been sharing her gift with others since. Her extensive portfolio includes portraits, nature and wildlife, family pets, homes, still life, book illustrations, advertising and murals.
