 Reflections Carol Morrison Online Art Listing Carol Morrison's artist statement: As a biologist and an artist, I feel that we are very much part of nature. I am very aware of the wonder of the world around us: the constantly changing appearance of the lakes, woods, brooks and fields, the magnificent blaze of red maples, yellow aspens and golden tamaracks in the fall and the interlacing shadows on sparkling snow in winter. In the relatively short but sunny summer there is a colourful parade of flowers in my garden. My main inspiration for portraying these has been Tom Thomson and, like him, I try to show the vitality of what I experience by using expressive brushwork and vibrant colors. My interest in living things, and in exploring our place in the world, extends to portraying some of the wonderful people I have met. |
