My current work reflects my desire of exploration; by involving a layering process of mixed media I’m able to transform an image from my mind, to a reality of matter. My work has continued to be about memory with emphasis on time and space. The recollection of a memory is an investigation of senses within one self. In painting, I intend to pursue the range which perception requires while constructing a memory; bringing to the surface, flashes and fades of washed out colors, shapes and represented symbols.
Alissa Woodside lives in Kelowna, B.C. where she was born and raised. She has a B.F.A. from UBC-Okanagan, in which she turned to painting as her main focus, creating surfaces of depth as well as buoyancy. Her work is loose, allowing for freedom in the materials yet a formal balance is found in the finished product.
