 War - the Refuge Donya Yount Online Art Listing artist statement: I drew all my life from age 3 to adulthood. It wasn't until I was age 39 that I picked up some brushes and canvases and caught the passion. My first year painting I sold 80 paintings of the 120 I painted that year, from my one-bedroom apartment in Olympia, Washington. I am still very new to technique, style and the business aspects of art, but enjoy each day of learning. I am self-taught but learned a lot from Andrew Hofmeister in a 3 year period where this master in his own rights took me under his wing as we explored abstract art. I did Abstract for 4 years and am now back to my Realism, Surrealism stage. I finally know why I exist... it is to create. |
