Jai Llewellyn: I was born in London 1977, grew up in Camden Town in a bohemian household where everyone was an "artist". Leaving London for boarding school in Lincolshire I came to appreciate the countryside and nature in general. After spending two years at Norwich School of Art having had a strong training in traditional drawing practices I went on to graduate from Camberwell College of Arts in 2003.
My work is primarily concerned with the shapes and forms of the figure in space.
I am also interested the infinitely strong bonds between the male/female and child. Painting is a means of expressing my emotions towards my mother, father, partner and children. I aim to make paintings that resonate with these universal emotions.
