Jace Mattson's work is inspired by the breaking down of complicated issues into the simplification of line, color, and composition. Her work is also inspired by translating complex systems (i.e. the human body) into over-simplified, yet still recognizable, patterns. Jace's paintings evoke a response; they are about something connected to the human experience, not just a geometric exercise. The color and line stimulate the viewer's imagination and cause a reaction even though there may not be recognizable figures as touchstones or frames of reference.
