I paint because I love to see. I love to see colours, shapes, and patterns. Colours that change with the weather and time of day; subtle colours, rich colours. Shapes of land and water; shapes of built things such as houses, boats, wharves, kitchen utensils. Patterns of roofs against each other, wharf pilings, corners and ells of farm buildings, groups of sheds, and herring weirs.

I thrive on the energy of the Bay of Fundy tides which rise and fall 25+ feet twice daily on the other side of North Mountain, a ridge of rock running alongside the Bay of Fundy. I salute the cloudscapes above it, the farms alongside it, and the harbours linking land and sea. I love life and hope to convey my joy of being alive here, now, through my painting.
