Diane Artz Furlong's artist statement: I am a self-taught artist working in pastel. I love this medium because there is nothing between me and the pigment. The range of colors is extraordinary and gratification can be immediate and satisfying when searching for the exact sky hue I want or the perfect tints for a grove of trees. I am inspired by the combinations of colors and shapes in the landscape and try to convey my feelings for these through my art.
