Meadowlawn Springhouse oil painting on canvas
BJ Wright Online Art Listing
Being from Tunnel Hill, GA, the hill and valley region of the Southern Appalachian foothills is BJ’s favorite inspiration. Painting en plein air (outdoors) in oils is her preferred method, although she occasionally paints in acrylic. "Colorist" and "impressionist" are labels often used to describe BJ's work.
While she studied art at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (TN) in the mid 1970’s, she didn’t begin painting seriously until 2000. "Self-guided" is the way BJ describes her art education. BJ has exhibited her work at the Creative Arts Guild in Dalton, GA., and Harris Arts Center in Calhoun, GA. Several of her paintings were chosen for the "Capital Arts" program wherein Georgia artists are chosen to display their artwork at the capital in Atlanta, GA. Her work may also be seen at the Prater’s Mill Country Fair, Creative Arts Guild’s Fine Arts Festival, the "Echoes of Our Past" art exhibits at Tunnel Hill Heritage Center and other various fine arts venues in the Southeastern United States.
"Capturing the lay of the land is my delight," BJ says. "Times and peoples come and go… but the land still remains."
