Beverly Claridge's Artist Statement: Every person, every situation has a story.
I endeavour to tell the story, be it drama, strength, satisfaction, joy, or long-suffering. Everyday people especially enjoying their life's calling are my main interest. I am fascinated by human labor and play...what people do to try to get on with living a satisfying life.
I enjoy meeting people and interacting with them in the activities that I am selecting to paint. By immersing myself I can attempt to discover what it is that inspires people in the activities they engage. Then I choose the artistic devices with which I do my narrative artwork.
I also paint New Zealand landscapes. It is wonderful visiting places, spending time discovering what it is that makes that place special.
