Aliye Cullu's Artist Statement: My life, like a tapestry, is woven with rich experience and travels. Watercolors were my first medium of artistic expression in the early 1970s. I have been a calligrapher, potter, art educator, and worked in the printing and publishing fields. I began painting with oils in 2004 and have been fascinated with their richness. I mostly paint landscapes, florals, and an occasional mindscape. Whenever possible, I paint en plein air, directly from nature.
